  • Using any high-output alternator with a stock battery can cause voltage drops. Ensure your battery is strong, grounding is solid, wiring is appropriate, and the belt is the correct size. We recommend the “Big 3” upgrade and using a smaller belt due to the overdrive pulley included with each alternator.

    The “Big 3” Upgrade

    Upgrading the three main electrical cables (power cable, ground cable, and engine block ground) can enhance your car's audio system performance, reduce strain on the electrical system, and extend the life of the battery and alternator.

  • Apex’s extension harnesses can bypass factory computer controls that may lower voltage output or shut off the alternator. This ensures a consistent 14.8V set-point, although it may trigger a battery light or error code in some vehicles.

  • For those using lithium batteries, Apex offers booster harnesses for varying voltage set-points (15.3V to 15.8V). This requires a GM plug with the “P L F S” pin code.

  • Diodes: Apex alternators use 60 amp diodes in small cases and 100 amp diodes in large cases, compared to the 25 amp and 50 amp diodes used by competitors.

    Rectifiers: Dual bridge rectifiers in our alternators provide efficient cooling and durability.

    Stators: Apex uses OEM hairpin stators, which are hand-soldered and welded for long-term reliability. Our 6-phase stators offer superior performance compared to the conventional 3-phase stators.
